Sometimes life hands you lemons and you just need to make lemonade with it. Or you get a pile of scraps and then you make a quilt. You get off your schedule and you just have to get back on. As you can see, I’ve been off schedule since I didn’t blog for the last two weeks. We went on vacation to visit the grandkids the first week so I have a legitimate reason for not blogging. That and I haven’t taken the time to figure out the Word Press app on my iPad yet. It was more important to spend my limited time with the kids. Last week, I have no excuse. I just haven’t gotten back on schedule. I’m still a bit off my routine but am working on getting things back in order so here goes.
This week I had the opportunity to quilt two darling baby quilts for one of my new customers. They are hand pieced and appliquéd. She did a great job with them and I had so much fun quilting them both.
Quilters are such a great bunch of people because we use our gift of quilting to give back. Jeanie is donating these two baby quilts to her local Church for their charity. I’m not even sure who these go to but I know two little ones who will be wrapped in love.
Our local animal shelter had their huge yard sale. I think I brought home more than I donated this time. I don’t recall us ever having so many donations and so many people come through the sale. We had great weather and made lots of money to help support all those critters that come through the gates. At the end of the sale I drew the name for the raffle quilt they’d been selling tickets for since our county fair weeks earlier. The recipient was excited to hear she won. Hopefully by now she’s gone and picked up her new quilt.
I’m busy working on the next quilt for the shelter to raffle off at our Host of Christmas Past in November. I found the perfect fabric for the border but haven’t been able to find enough of it so I found an alternate choice this week which I think will work nicely. I just looked at the calendar and the host is just around the corner and I have to get this quilt finished.
Until next week.
